MAGMA Design and Engineering is a product design and development company with eight years of excellence supporting clients such as the U.S. Air Force, DARPA, JPL/NASA, BMW, Honeywell, Disney and many more.
MAGMA specializes in the full scope of digital design and manufacturing technologies including: 3D CAD, digitizing, CNC machining, direct digital manufacturing (rapid prototyping) with SLA/SLS/DMLS/FDM & QuickCast metal investment castings, plus low-cost FRP composite tooling. Additional manufacturing experience includes injection & blow molding, thermoforming, automation/robotics and metal casting.
Recent projects have included: high-tolerance F35 (JSF) and Boeing X45-C UAV engineering/feasiblity mock-ups, advanced NDT systems for USAF aircraft inspection, high intesity LED lighting for DOD/DARPA applications, biobased/biodegradable medical labware packaging, and the design-build of the "Fantasticar" for 20th Century Films' Fanstastic Four II.
This portfolio reveals some highlights of the literally hundreds of projects I’ve been involved with in about the last ten years.
Many projects, especially for the automotive and aerospace industries, are highly confidential. For these projects I’ll describe the work I’ve completed and provide some representative photos.
I’ve divided my portfolio into the following categories: Product Development, Automotive, Aerospace, Architecture, Art and Engineering Analysis. Each industry has its own unique approach to design and development. Most technologies and processes are easily transferable, adding new capabilities and value to existing products.
